Gloria with Indian Head Ginger in Hana Highway's Garden of Eden |
Some fancy flower! |
Another flower in this "Arboretum & Botanical Garden" |
Still on the way to Hana, we stopped at Waikani Falls |
In Hana, we rented a nice one-bedroom house, Hale Heavenly Hana. This is my artistic version of one of the trees on their 8 acres. |
Some guidebooks tell you not to take the road south of Hana. You can. There are many waterfalls in the first part. |
Another view of the waterfall. |
There were a half-dozen pickups on this beach, with a half-dozen fishing poles set out, and a half-dozen families grilling lunch to eat under tarps strung between the trucks. Just a few miles from the waterfalls, in a bone-dry quadrant of the island. |
The bay below Mokulau - or Hui Aloha - church |
The sign says "Huil Aloha Church - 1859" |
Two views of a new church in Kaupo, seen from the ruins of the old, much smaller church |
On Sunday morning at 11, there was no sign of a service |
A shack with a view! There's nobody else for miles. |
