In Hana, we rented a nice one-bedroom house, Hale Heavenly Hana. This is my artistic version of one of the trees on their 8 acres.

Some guidebooks tell you not to take the road south of Hana. You can. There are many waterfalls in the first part.

There were a half-dozen pickups on this beach, with a half-dozen fishing poles set out, and a half-dozen families grilling lunch to eat under tarps strung between the trucks. Just a few miles from the waterfalls, in a bone-dry quadrant of the island.
